Next to Sam, Angelina is my favorite character in the Bloodlines story. Born as slaves, Angelina and her mother, Violet, are purchased out of slavery and brought to Pennsylvania where the precocious twelve-year-old meets and connects with Sam.
It does not take long for the two to discover that they share a common spiritual intuition. In time, Angelina’s quest for friendship becomes a healing salve for Sam’s lonely and troubled soul as he basks in the sunlight delivered by his unique young partner in conversation.
