In 2015, George Barna, founder of The Barna Research Group, released his findings following interviews with 2,000 Americans. He reported that 9 out of 10 Americans owned a Bible.
The question we do not have an answer to is, “How many of these “9 out of 10” actually read their Bibles regularly, and how many see their Bible as a mere “coffee table book?”

If the Bible truly did have impact on those “9 out of 10” Americans, why is it that 42-53% of American marriages end in divorce. Based on the 90% of Americans who own a Bible, should not the American divorce rate be, at worst, 5%?

Why do so many Americans skip the idea of marriage altogether and just live together? The Bible does not teach this lifestyle. And neither does the Bible support the homosexual lifestyle, and yet many churches across the land now embrace homosexual and lesbian lifestyles and essentially say that God approves.

Why so many broken/dysfunctional homes? Why so many suicides?

It’s odd that the people of the 16th century, living in the era of the Reformation, did everything in their power to obtain a Bible and, if necessary, learn how to read it. No, in those days, a rapacious hunger for God’s Word was common-place. Not so much today.
