NightWatch Podcast EPISODE 45: BUNGLED CHANCES PART 5 – NEW WINE INTOXICATION: 4-½ MIN.

NEW WINE INTOXICATION

The image above of a wine cup on a purple cloth is actually the front cover of New Wine Magazine, Best of 1973, Volume 5, Issue No. 12.

From June 1969 through December 1986 (17 years), New Wine Magazine delivered 195 issues of sound Biblical teaching. I have a PDF version of every one of them on my computer’s hard drive.

I fed on the New Wine Magazine material regularly and found it to be very sound. Seated on the New Wine Magazine Board of Directors were four of the five men identified in my next podcast, The Fort Lauderdale Five (see below). The one man in that group who was not on New Wine Magazine Board is Charles Simpson, the magazine’s publisher.

I bring up this information to help my listeners understand that the quality of teaching at the highest “pyramid” level in our “Cutting Edge” Movement was very sound and Biblical, and that these five men were, generally speaking, providing faith-building, disciple-making, kingdom-focused studies for Christian growth. Where our “Cutting Edge” movement got off track was the failure of our leaders from the top down, to demonstrate humility and practice the servanthood they required of us. It was the rich kingdom truth being imparted to us however, that intoxicated us and sadly led us to believe that we were on the “Cutting Edge,” or perhaps we were the “Cat’s Pajamas.”
