NightWatch Podcast EPISODE 48: BUNGLED CHANCES PART 8 – CHURCH CULTURE: 4-½ MIN.

CHURCH CULTURE

Does the phrase “Church Culture” strike an odd chord with you? Do these two words even fit together? How about the Catholic Church and the Lutheran Church? Do they have the same culture? Well… in terms of things liturgical, one might say that there are many similarities. The same similarities hold true for the Catholic Church and the Episcopal Church…again similar liturgical patterns. So, liturgically speaking, the Catholic Church, the Lutheran Church and the Episcopal Church all have much in common.

How about this group of three compared with the Pentecostal Church? Hmmm … some differences there no doubt. Add in the Mennonites, the Baptists, the Methodists and the Presbyterians, do they have similar or different Church Cultures? If we were to go deep diving into the unique attributes of each of these Christian Church institutions, we would find a myriad of diverse and distinctive attributes that would ultimately set each one apart from the others. Yes, “Church Culture” is a real thing. It does indeed exist and in many forms.

Our short-lived experiment known as the “Shepherding Movement” likewise had it’s own culture as explained and demonstrated in the above podcast and image.

How about the Bostonian Puritans of the late 1600’s? Did they have a unique “Church Culture?” We’ll find out more in Podcast 51, WINDOW INTO THE PAST.
